I am working on a project to celebrate 125 years of the @nationaltrust at the moment... so I will be looking back at so landscape works to get myself into it... I am thinking of a series of works to explore the variety of property the protect from coast and countryside, houses and gardens, industrial heritage and farms... and within that the wild flora and fauna. Not much to think about 😂😂😂

I thought some may resonate with this post ... growing up my girls never really had time for make up...😊 #Repost @elliegregor • • • • • • I have had a lot of messages from women/girls asking how I coped with not being able to wear makeup, wash my hair or do my nails. I have never been concerned about my appearance, I’m probably the worst girl, I spend all of 5 minutes getting ready in the morning and I rarely do my makeup, hair, nails etc. I’d rather spend my time doing other things. I’m definitely even more comfortable after taking part in SAS WDW. Yes I may have blonde eyelashes, eyebrows and un-tamed hair but I’m ok with that! It’s actually liberating being in an environment where no one cares what they look like. In the first picture I’m rocking the n dubz/ bank robber hat along with @sportybethcf @christopherbarker_pt & @jay__morton and I think we look great 😂🤣🖤💪🏽. #saswhodareswins #sas #recruit #channel4 #mindovermatter #breakpoint #strongwomen #strongmind #strength #adventuregirl #positivemind #positivesoul #nomakeup #bareface #sas #beyourself

I am very proud and honoured to have been asked to submit artwork for the RED SIXTY SEVEN book ( @_BTO & @rspb_love_nature @red67book #Red67 #bto #rspb #yolobirder #redlist https://ift.tt/2RpCayt for more ) The launch is on February 14th but you can pre-order the book and purchase other merchandise from the website below now. Red Sixty Seven is a collaboration between 67 authors and 67 artists with a single goal: to raise funds to support conservation work aiming to reverse the declines of our most at-risk birds. Contributors include Chris Packham, Ann Cleeves, Samuel West, Natalie Bennett, David Lindo, Gill Lewis, Darren Woodhead, Carry Akroyd, Jane Smith and Patrick Barkham. All of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to BTO and RSPB to further their work on Red-listed birds. Red Sixty Seven is 67 love letters to our most vulnerable species, each beautifully illustrated by some of the best wildlife artists around, showcasing a range of styles as varied as the birds in these pages. Our hope is that the book will bring the Red List to a wider audience whilst raising funds for the charities working to help the birds most at need. My bird was the Balearic Shearwater, I have a particularly soft spot for Shearwaters (although Manx) having spent some time on Skoholm and Skomer Islands, we have them visiting our waters around Cornwall. To support 67 redlisted species, It is a collaboration in 67 beautiful illustrated love letters to our most threatened birds @Red67book #Red67 #bto #rspb #yolobirder #redlist #illustratedbook #illustration https://ift.tt/2RpCayt

I have been avoiding writing about @sas_whodareswins this week but because of the number of messages we are getting...here goes. I am so proud of my daughters, but not because they are on tv doing sas who dares wins because of the things they do every day the trials they have faced and the way they use those things to help others to achieve their own goals. We dont know what narrative channel 4 will play or how they will cut the 24/7 to create a storyline and we have not seen the episodes before they air. My girls are strong physically and tough little cookies, they like to challenge themselves physically and mentally. This certainly did that it breaks the recruits down, over and over again... those who left in the last show did so after days of this. The sickener alone lasted 3 hours plus... hypothermia is close at every stage now especially with the reduced diet, lack of sleep, showers, dry clothes and warmth. The last one effected many of us deeply brought issues back to the surface from many peoples past. It has been a talking point every day since both on here, in messages and in our day to day lives. In the year ending March 2018, an estimated 2 million adults aged 16 to 59 years experienced domestic abuse during the previous year (1.3 million women, 695,000 men)... this shocking figure is probably much lower than the actual number...there are some links if you Google channel 4 support... please use them if you are suffering, walk away, talk to someone, ask for help. #domesticabuse #strongnotsilent #speakout #saswhodareswins #mentalhealrhawareness

This is from a series of monoprints I made a few years ago, a little story about a horse called "take a chance" who everyone was scared of except me at the age of 6! They were about my childhood growing up in a town and longing to be around animals and also my daughters... what i didnt want for them brought us to where we are now... because of the @sas_whodareswins thing we are doing a lot of looking at where we came from to get to where we are and the challenges we have faced along the way... you can follow more of the girls @sportybethcf & @elliegregor journey tonight 🙈😭🖤⚔🖤😭🙈

In my uninspired state at this time of year, I have been thinking about the light and the way it really affects me, it's not just that it goes dark early but the quality of the light is different, everything seems a little desaturated... with occasional glimpses of a weak sun... but there are always crows to lift my spirits 🖤😍🖤. . . . . #crowcollage #crowpainting #collage #ravenart #mixedmedia #wildbirdartwork #crowart #abstractlandscape #winterpainting #weaksun #lowlight

As the moon rises tonight you will notice it is full this is the 1st full moon of the 2020 and the decade and called the wolf moon so I thought I would share a little story to celebrate it. The Story Of The Wolf and The Crow One day, a wolf was resting beneath the shade of a gorse bush. A Crow approached the dozing creature " I bring news on why the raven's coat is as black as night." Said the crow. " Long ago the great white raven and sacred father of our race who had a wingspan that spanned the horizon from east to west -- would lift the great golden eye each day. For that was one of his holy chores bestowed upon him by the great father. Then one day as he lifted the great golden eye of the sun with his pristine wing, a spark caught hold and spread like wild fire completely enveloping him. As he screamed in pain the fire turned his beautiful coat to black. And that is why when we see the sun rising up into the great blue vault; it causes us to cry out in remembrance of that fateful time when the great white raven lost his footing in the presence of the great spirit. The wolf just yawned! In this story the wolf doesn't really have a role in others he does... . . . . Algonquin tribes of the northern and eastern U.S. named the first full Moon of winter the Wolf Moon, because of the packs of wolves who howled in the deep snows of winter. #themoon #wolfmoon #fullmoon #lookuptothesky

#Repost @sportybethcf • • • • • • To echo what @nicolamcgrath831 said in her lovely post, a quick reminder that it is easy to say from the comfort of your sofa “I can do that” most of us said it watching season 4. But you are only going to see a glimpse of what it was like. No sleep 1-2 hours max but probably not, strict rations very little food, constant exercise, constantly wet and freezing cold even in the accommodation, cuts bruises, infections, No showers, open toilets, only 2 sets of clothes that were always wet, no make up, hair brushes, no mirrors. It’s raw and it’s real. We all struggled at some point. They take you to your breaking point on purpose. Then push you past it. Every single recruit that joined us, no matter how long they stayed, they’re all badass, strong, kind and tough people. Some of the most incredible people I’ll ever meet. I’m so lucky to have met them. Please be kind to everyone. It’s a huge achievement just to have the balls to do something this crazy. 💕 My experience on SAS was truly life changing. It unearthed things I had forgotten I had buried and made me deal with them. It striped me of everything I thought I knew about myself, challenged my perceptions. Proved that I am much stronger than I ever thought and that I can keep getting back up, over and over again. I did some really crazy, cool, adrenaline fuelled things. To get on the show we had to complete the men’s military fitness test, which I’m super proud of myself for passing first time. We were up against over 7,000 other applicants to get a spot. Getting on the show was an achievement in itself. It will be really interesting watching it back, we know only some things will be shown and we don’t know what will be portrayed. I’ll be here.. watching it in my standard issue military jumper 😉. But I wish I was watching it with my fellow recruits. Love you all 💕 my SAS family xxx

#Repost @elliegregor • • • • • • Isle of Skye SAS WHO DARES WINS - RECRUIT 23 Over the next few weeks you will see me at my absolutely rawest. Here is a little incite into the conditions we all endured. We had very little sleep, maybe an hour or two a day, if that. Our food was rationed from the beginning, I lost over 11lb in weight! There were no washing facilities, that’s right not even a shower. We were aloud no home comforts, no makeup, no hair brushes, no cosmetics, no electronics, no communication with home and we only had two sets of clothes, if we were lucky. There was no warmth, we “slept” in a barn with a door that did not close. We had absolutely no control, we were always anxious and anticipating the next task or beasting! Knowing all this, even now, I would go back again tomorrow. The experience was second to none. It challenged ever aspect of my being. Many of you have asked me what possessed me to apply for such a brutal challenge. The answer is, I enjoy pushing myself to my limits, I truly believe that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Adventure excites me, pain strengthens me and until you have really pushed yourself to the limit, how do you truly know how far you can go?

#saswhodareswins airs tonight. When my little girls were growing up, I encouraged them to be strong, challenge themselves, not let stereotypes get in their way, we used to say there is no such word as cant and giving up was not really an option, whilst hopefully accepting that the we can only ever do our best, but I never thought these little munchkins would go and do stuff like this ahhh. Although filming happened in october we have no idea what shape storylines will take... wish them luck! @sportybethcf & @elliegregor 😬🏋️♀️🏃♀️💪⚔☠😬!

Foraging: this is one of the things I have decided to share more about this year. *************** 10 forgaging rules by Alvaro Docio There are some rules that must be adhered to when collecting wild food for safe, sustainable & responsible foraging: Never consume wild food unless you are 100% sure of its identification. There are plants and fungi out there that can kill you. When in doubt, leave it out! Do not take more than you need. Only pick from abundant populations and leave plenty behind for wildlife and others to enjoy. Over-picking is not sustainable and will impact next year’s crop. Do not pick endangered species. It’s not only illegal to pick but unethical. Gather only those that you know grow in abundance and familiarise yourself with endangered species. Do not trespass to forage for wild food. You should only forage on property that you have gained landowner’s permission to enter. Always leave it as you found it in the first place. Leave no trace behind and respect nature. Minimise damage to the habitat and species. Do not disturb wildlife and avoid unnecessary trampling. Do not pick the roots. The plant will not have the chance to reproduce and you will not be able to pick leaves and flowers in the future. Always ask for the landowner’s permission if the plant in question is fairly abundant. Never pick in places subjected to pollution. Avoid roadsides, industrial estates, dog walking areas and agricultural land that may be sprayed with herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. Do not pick plants growing near polluted water sources. Use a knife / pair of scissors. Using adequate tools avoid excess damage to plants and inadvertent uprooting, increasing the chance of the plant to continue growing healthy. Be cautious when trying new wild foods. Sometimes your body will have intolerances. Learn about possible reactions and allergies. Avoid consuming wild food if you have medical conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Share your knowledge. Teach others to respect nature and learn about the environment. . . #forgaging #wildfood
