My painting of the day "Acrobats of the Sky". This painting is a celebration of lapwings it is one of my greatest pleasures to see a cloud of them rise over Hayle Estuary as I pass in my car... I sometimes and not often enough stop to watch them... but I see them as with all wildlife from a contemporary perspective with all the noise and turmoil of our world, I block out the bits I dont like to see the houses, cars, litter, endless developments etc. And just absorb myself in the lapwings and the sky ... It's on my website if you would like to see more about it. Link in my profile π There is also a poem Two Pewits, by Edward Thomas: Under the after-sunset sky Two pewits sport and cry, More white than is the moon on high Riding the dark surge silently; More black than earth. Their cry Is the one sound under the sky. They alone move, now low, now high, And merrily they cry To the mischievous Spring sky, Plunging earthward, tossing high, Over the ghost who wonders why So merrily they cry and fly, Nor choose 'twixt earth and sky, While the moon's quarter silently Rides, and earth rests as silently
