This is one of my preliminary sketches/paintings of a Balearic Shearwater for a very exciting project I was asked to take part in. The finished painting (slightly different to this one) has been sent to @btobirds to be published in a new bird conservation book which combines the work 67 artists and authors, birds which are on the red listed. Profits from the sale of the artwork and the book when it is released will help conservation projects. Shearwaters are amazing burrow nesting birds and very prone to predation by both mamals and other sea birds, I spent sometime on @skokholm_island and @skomer_island where Manx Shearwaters bread a few years ago, it was a trurly unforgettable experience and therefore a pleasure to do something to try to help thier Balearic cousins. . .
