I have to confess the giving of medals to animals confuses me, we put them into service and they have no knowledge of the danger they face… Animals and birds have undoubtedly helped us in many ways and saved many lives but they rarely if ever choose this service… Anyway the first one was awarded to Winkie and was also awarded to 24 dogs, 3 horses, 1cat and a further 31 pigeons
