Extinction is a reality for many creatures...last October I painted lots of extinct birds for Ghosts of Gone Birds to raise awareness about the subject...It became very obvious, what extinct really means to me...I had no reference, other that photographs of (mostly) badly stuffed birds...this one is drawn from a photograph of the only specimen of the Sharpes Rail.
