Did you know that the Bar-headed Goose is one of the world's highest-flying birds, having been seen flying across Mount Makalu – the fifth highest mountain at 8,481 m and apparently seen over Mount Everest – 8,848 m, I was once told that they take the trouble to fly over the Himalayas because they pre-date them and the Himalayas where much smaller when they began using this route, I am not sure if this is true but I like it. I painted a Bar headed goose today in my 30 Day Challenge but this is one I painted a while ago as an icon.
