Times of failure are always good for analysis 😊 so now I know that this image more clearly articulates my ideas about the world our wildlife navigate and the way they appear to us as fleeting treasured glimpses.... .

Well! Not very impressed with my screen printing efforts! Too photographic for my liking I think, i will probably chop them up and make them into cards or sketchbook pages...although they look better on here than in the studio, maybe they just don't look like my work #failfast #failoften 😂

Sitting in the conservatory watching birds and listening to the world ... whilst i look through images to post today... I live in a rural part of cornwall but at this time of day the road is quite busy, the birds just do their thing regardless... starlings...

Reading a post about body image by @bethanysrobinson I remembered this Poem it talks about Queen Owl Wings... which means I can share another Barn Owl ! its a beautiful poem about age... our scars and wrinkles are a map of our lives... well thats what I think anyway... BENEATHER THE SWEATER AND THE SKIN How many years of beauty do I have left? she asks me. How many more do you want? Here. Here is 34. Here is 50. When you are 80 years old and your beauty rises in ways your cells cannot even imagine now and your wild bones grow luminous and ripe, having carried the weight of a passionate life. When your hair is aflame with winter and you have decades of learning and leaving and loving sewn into the corners of your eyes and your children come home to find their own history in your face. When you know what it feels like to fail ferociously and have gained the capacity to rise and rise and rise again. When you can make your tea on a quiet and ridiculously lonely afternoon and still have a song in your heart Queen owl wings beating beneath the cotton of your sweater. Because your beauty began there beneath the sweater and the skin, remember? This is when I will take you into my arms and coo YOU BRAVE AND GLORIOUS THING you've come so far. I see you. Your beauty is breathtaking. ~ Jeannette Encinias

Another old Barn Owl painting ... my interests have not changed but the conversation I am trying to have through my work has shifted I think... also available as a card... I think it is time to update my collection of greetings cards but it would be hard to let this one go as it has always been very popular 😊

I love to see my work in situ and i especially love to hear about how it makes people feel...if you have my work on your walls at home or at work , I would love to see it. #Repost @elliegregor • • • • • • How many of you spend most of your week in an office? I spend 40-50 hours a week in mine which is made much better by the beautiful artwork by @ssharpeart and my many office plants 🌱... As it’s mental health awareness week i thought it would be apt to start my blog with a blog about mental health in the workplace and how surrounding yourself with things you love can make those long hours staring at 4 walls much easier. I’ll be posting my blog in my bio this week so keep an eye out 🙌🏼 #solicitor #artwork #mentalhealth #localartist #artistofinstagram #art #animals #cornwall #cornwallproperty #homebuyingtips #conveyancinglife #firsttimebuyer ##mentalhealthawareness #worklifebalance #plants #officedecor #officeplants #lovewhereyouwork #conveyancing #lawyer #law #animalportrait #ukartist #discoverartists #homeowner #artforoffices

And just because i want to share some poetry by Mary Oliver here is another Owl Coming down out of the freezing sky with its depths of light, like an angel, or a Buddha with wings, it was beautiful, and accurate, striking the snow and whatever was there with a force that left the imprint of the tips of its wings—five feet apart— and the grabbing thrust of its feet, and the indentation of what had been running through the white valleys of the snow— and then it rose, gracefully, and flew back to the frozen marshes to lurk there, like a little lighthouse, in the blue shadows— so I thought: maybe death isn’t darkness, after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us— as soft as feathers— that we are instantly weary of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes, not without amazement, and let ourselves be carried, as through the translucence of mica, to the river that is without the least dapple or shadow, that is nothing but light—scalding, aortal light— in which we are washed and washed out of our bones.. . . . . . . . #wip #illustration #wildlifepainting #adoseofnature #barnowl #wildbird #contemporaryprintmaking #humananimalrelationship #contemporaryart #sketchbook #inthestudio #collageart #creativityandplay #camoflage #anthrozoology #abstractlandscape #acryiicpainting. #landscapepainting #cornishfields #cornwallpainting #mixedmediapainting #contemporarylandscapepainting #cornwallart #cornishfarm #farmlandbird #winsorandnewtonacrylics #screenprinting

Another Barn Owl ... appearing and disappearing in the same moment barely seen ... And a poem by RS Thomas BARN OWL Mostly it is a pale face hovering in the afterdraught of the spirit, making both ends meet on a scream. It is the breath of the churchyard, the forming of white frost in a believer, when he would pray; it is soft feathers camouflaging a machine. It repeats itself year after year in its offspring, the staring pupils it teaches its music to, that is the voice of God in the darkness cursing himself fiercely for his lack of love. ii. and there the owl happens like white frost as cruel and as silent and the time on its blank face is not now so the dead have nothing to go by and are fast or slow but never punctual as the alarm is over their bleached bones of its night-strangled cry. by R. S. Thomas from The Way of It (1977)
